The Maths Curriculum at Cold Harbour C of E Primary School
Our aim is to ignite our children’s intrigue in the world of shape and number.
We are on a journey to developing a curriculum that focuses on practical approaches to real-life problems, where all children can enjoy and excel in maths.
We recognise that many of our children need to develop their confidence in mathematics. Maths skills are taught daily to allow our children to become confident, proficient learners. Lessons work to deepen children’s understanding of concepts, connect ideas and enhance mathematical understanding. We use White Rose objectives to support out planning and develop the children’s skills.
The key principles of our approach:
- An ‘I can’ approach.
- High expectations
- Using Mathematical Language
- Using concrete and pictorial representation to support understanding
- Problem-solving and uncovering the structure of the maths
- Supporting our families
